Ah the outrage a meme can inspire. Perhaps the word play went over some people’s heads. A heated argument in grand internet fashion naturally ensued. This somehow got mangled in the course of the discussion into ‘Christian Satanism’, thereby showing not only a lack of reading comprehension (considering the orginal post is about Luciferianism and never mentions Satanism but I suppose to some they equate to the same) but also a lack of understanding of the concept and history of Satan, ie it is a thoroughly Christian invention (Quick primer on Satan, The Christian concept of him can be found in the Dead Sea Scrolls found in Qumran which Paul directly refers back to by calling him Belial. However the Early Christians most likely viewed him as the leader of the Children of Darkness, our modern ideas are based off of dogma implemented by much later councils, long after the establishment of the Church. This is a topic outside the scope of this blog post, much of my knowlege of this comes from The Origin of Satan: How Christians Demonized Jews, Pagans, and Heretics by Elaine Pagels) ergo to be a Satanist is to buy into Christianity to an extent.

The idea of a Lucferian Catholicism or Catholic witchcraft is not a strange one, these ideas are pretty common in historic ‘traditional’ European witchcraft, particularly of the Iberian and Italian variety (or much New World witchcraft for that matter) where we find the deliberate masking of Gods and spirits as Saints, both to hide in plain sight and also to harness the collective power of belief in that Saint. We find the working of the Left Hand through the Right. St Peter Lord of the Keys becomes Lord of the Crossroads, St Catherine becomes Dama Fortuna, the Madonna is the Witchmother herself, and Lucifer is revealed to be the Light of the Christos. This is a witchcraft born of Unity not duality, and requires us to abandon preconceived notions, to dare to gaze beyond the mask and see what lies behind the veil.

There is a long standing tradition, especially in groups like the Clan of Tubal Cain and Cultus Sabbati, in using names as symbols to elude to different aspects of the divine and to tear down the illusion of duality. So the point here is that Lucifer/Lumiel and Christ are one and the same God and Devil, it’s part of the mystery. The point is that both the Right and Left hand paths are illusions as they both lead back to the Monad. Historically speaking, Christianity most likely started off as a mystery religion by Hellenized Jews, and the religion as we have recieved it in the modern era is quite distant from its roots! Christianity has never been one static set of beliefs, they have changed and evolved over time just like any other.

Regarding the Mysteries, and speaking from personal experience and gnosis the ordeal of the Rite of the Sacred Waters of the Moon was very ‘Passion of the Christ’ esque. The crucifixion is the sacrifice of the lower self to the higher self, or the sacrifice of one’s self to ONE Self. The descent into hell is the underworld initation, the resurrection is our rebirth, the assumption into heaven is our ascent into the emperyan spheres.

Some seem to be content to accept American Protestantism/Evangelicalism as the default Christanity. I’m rather certain heretics such as I are anathema to Evangelicals and the like but I digress. I’d daresay the Church of Man has failed the Spiritual Church… and we are here to do the Devil’s work.

As ‘success be thy proof’ was brought up in the conversation, I thought it might be fruitful to share some of the successes of my work.

3 years ago – I began to take my witchcraft practice seriously for the first time since I was a teenager. No more endlessly reading books, it was time to get off the armchair and into the circle. I begin to pray nightly to the Queen of Witches, and practicing various LHP Luciferian oriented rituals. The results in hindsight were rather lackluster, some interesting phenomenon, nothing spectacular until…. One night I dream of a feminine black clad reaper. That Saturday, I decided to take the left path out of the cemetery I was doing meditations in at the time. Three blocks down the road there is a man rebuilding a public shrine… a shrine to Santisima Muerte, the Mexican folk Catholic Saint of Death. My jaw goes slack as a deep sense of deju vu triggers and I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that this is the spirit I dreamt of. I soon am invited to private chaplet for Her. I am most disappointed in the Catholic framework; after all I’m a Luciferian and I certainly don’t need this religion of the oppressive Shepard! Still I cannot deny what I felt in that room. I dream of Her again, get invited to another chaplet. I purchase my first statue. I try to deCatholic Her veneration. My floor, where I built her first shrine, gets set on fire as la Negra’s candle decides to fall over. I begin to approach Her within the context I was taught at the New Orleans Chapel, Michael and the Virgin are added to the altar which is now on a table. No more disasters. I continue to attend private chaplets for Her even as I dive into a tradition of revealed witchcraft via talismanic grimories centering on Hekate and Lucifer.

Via my connection to the SM Chapel here I get invited into a Quimbanda house that had begun to form here. To backtrack a bit, I moved to NOLA in 2005 hoping to get initated into vodou. My first job here, at an occult shop no less, introduced me to Exu and Pomba Gira. I was enthralled but held back by a lack of English resources and a lack of local practioners as Quimbanda, like other ATRs, is an oral tradition, one cannot learn it out of a book. Over time I meet various practioners of ‘New Orleans Vodou’ and pretty quickly learn that term is misleading, its simply Haitian vodou practiced in New Orleans, New Orleans vodou is just a marketing term. Fast forward to 2017 and I’m blown away by this invitation. And there at the top of the tronco…. is St Michael, the Archangel as the Maioral. I begin to move away from the grimories I had been using and approaching things via the Greek Magical Papyri, folklore and more ‘traditional’ forms of witchcraft. Santisima Muerte devotion quickly forms the core of my work. San Cipriano starts to pop up more and more….

I began a devotional relationship with San Cipriano, and watched my spellwork improve almost overnight. I pray to Santisima Muerte to introduce me to a real practioner of brujeria so I may learn more of her traditions, within the week I’m on the phone with a brujo from the RGV furiously scribbling notes. I finally do la Tributa with Santisima Muerte to see if I can move from devotee to worker. She says yes. Knowing damn well nothing is free with Her, I ask what She wants from me in return. I dream of helping a friend who now runs the NOLA chapel baptise and bless Santisima Muerte statues, rosaries etc. Said friend has apostolic succession via the EGC, divination confirms that receiving apostolic succession is what she wants. I begin researching how one might do so, she rejects the Gnostic lineages I present to her. Soon I discover the ELU… and she heartily approves. I begin doing the catchehumane work…. Upon the very first new moon of the work, the omen I had been waiting for for over a year to begin the Rite of the Sacred Waters of the Moon, aka the Toad Bone Rite, triggers.

Not long after, The Archbishop of the ELU makes an announcement regarding “recognizing time in grade” – or what we might call “credit for life experience.” based on his expierences with his “Great Grandfather in Zen” Seungsahn.

What this meant was that if you’d already been practicing for a year or so in another zen school, and he met you and you weren’t *too* crazy or creepy, he’d make you a dharma teacher on the spot. He said that people didn’t want to go to a dharma center with only other beginners – they wanted a teacher there, and that “the good ones” (who received the on-the-spot promotion) would work that much harder to be deserving of the responsibility.

The announcement continued “For those who make it to the Great Sabbat – contingent on “life experience,” members will receive 1st Degree Baptism and some also 2nd Degree Confirmation. Some will receive 3rd Degree ordination to the Diaconate, and some may be ordained directly to the priesthood.

This will be based on previous experience, meeting you, and your acceptance of the invitation to advancement.”

I pray to Santisima, asking her to aid in attaining the priesthood should it be her will…

ECCLESIA LUCIS ET UMBRAE

A Protective Ward with St Michael the Archangel

Here is a simple protective spell, with layers of protection and plenty of tools to feed the spirits to work their roles.

St Michael’s candle is surrounded by a base of a trio of cleansing/banishing herbs as well as the materia for fiery wall of protection. The candle is anointed with Abramelin Holy Oil and dressed with fiery wall of protection. Pslam 92 verses 12-15 and the Prayer to St Michael the Archangel are prayed over the candle to bless it and charge it Michael’s protection.

The idea behind this is as you light the candle and say your prayer to Michael, you are essentially asking Michael to “guard the gates”, with the spell staying active so long as the candle is lit. I typically use this an extra protective measure when doing work with Santisima Muerte or the Dead.
